American Airlines Raises $1 Million for Maui Wildfires Relief Through Red Cross Donations

American Airlines is steadfast in its commitment to aiding evacuation and relief endeavors following the devastating wildfires that struck Maui, Hawaii earlier this month. Alongside facilitating departures from the island and offering customer flexibility, American is lending its support by extending American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles to travelers who contribute to the American Red Cross.

With a focus on providing crucial assistance on Maui Wildfires Reliefin partnership with the American Red Cross, American Airlines is encouraging AAdvantage members to make a difference. Until August 31, members can earn 10 AAdvantage bonus miles for every dollar they donate to the Red Cross, with a minimum donation of $25. As of August 22, American has distributed over 12 million AAdvantage miles to its patrons as a token of appreciation for their generous contributions. Concurrently, the Red Cross has received donations exceeding $1.2 million, which will significantly aid those affected by the wildfires.
Ron DeFeo, American’s Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, remarked,
“The unwavering generosity displayed by our AAdvantage members over the past few weeks has been truly heartwarming.” DeFeo continued, “We extend our gratitude to our customers for their contributions, and we salute the Red Cross for their invaluable efforts in providing relief and supporting recovery initiatives on Maui.”
Being an integral part of the Annual Disaster Giving Program with the Red Cross, American Airlines proudly participates in enhancing disaster relief efforts. Contributions through this platform assist in delivering relief and hope during various calamities, be it hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, or other crises, regardless of scale.
The American Airlines Family Fund is equally devoted to assisting its team members stationed on the island. Primarily supported by donations from American Airlines team members, this fund aids colleagues who face financial adversity due to unforeseen life events, including natural disasters.
