As the new year unfolds, air travelers can anticipate a wave of fresh flight options, both domestically and internationally, as major carriers respond to the rising demand for travel. Here’s a glimpse of some noteworthy routes set to launch in 2024.
Alaska Airlines

American Airlines
Expansion at Dallas/Fort Worth hub with over 850 daily departures, including new destinations like Albany, New York; Redmond, Oregon; Barcelona, Spain; and Tulum, Mexico.
Other new destinations include Copenhagen, Denmark; Naples, Italy; Nice, France; Tijuana, Mexico; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Governor’s Harbour, Bahamas; Pasco, Washington; and Hyannis, Massachusetts.
Delta Air LinesExpansion from Austin, Texas, connecting with Nashville, Tennessee; Midland-Odessa, Texas; McAllen, Texas; Cincinnati; and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina (flights starting April 22).
New service between Dallas/Fort Worth and Seattle (starting July 8).
Frontier Airlines

Hawaiian Airlines
New daily nonstop service between Salt Lake City and Honolulu (starting May 15).
JetBlue
Daily nonstop service between New York’s JFK Airport and Tulum’s Felipe Carrillo Puerto Tulum International Airport (starting June 13).
Seasonal service from JFK and Boston Logan International Airport to Dublin Airport and Edinburgh Airport (March 13 – September 30, 2024).
Southwest Airlines
Daily service between Orlando and various destinations, including Cancun, Grand Cayman, Nassau, Providenciales, Punta Cana, and San José (starting June 4).
Daily service between Burbank and Kansas City, New Orleans, San Antonio, and St. Louis (starting June 4).
Daily nonstop service between Colorado Springs and Baltimore/Washington (starting June 4).
Spirit Airlines
Nonstop service to Tulum, Mexico from Fort Lauderdale and Orlando (starting March 28).
United Airlines
22 weekly flights to Tulum, Mexico from Newark/New York, Houston, and Chicago (starting March 31).
Application to become the first U.S. carrier for nonstop service between Houston and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.
