Celebrity Ascent: Sister Godmothers, Innovation, and Luxe Voyages

Celebrity Cruises marked the launch of the Celebrity Ascent with a spectacular naming ceremony featuring two distinguished sisters as Godmothers: Captain Sandy Yawn of the “Below Deck” television series and Michelle Dunham, founder of the Jacksonville School for Autism. Adding to the familial theme, Ascent Captains Dimitrios and Tasos Kafetzis became the first brothers to co-captain a cruise ship.
As the fourth vessel in the Edge Series, Celebrity Ascent, larger than its predecessors, recently set sail for Galveston, Texas, to offer year-round Western Caribbean itineraries. The ship boasts a two-story sunset deck, an expanded Grand Plaza, and a relocated martini bar, enhancing the onboard experience.
President of Celebrity Cruises, Laura Hodges Bethge, highlighted the company’s focus on entertainment, showcasing three captivating shows on the preview cruise. Additionally, the ship features design updates, including a revamped specialty dining restaurant, Le Voyage, with a new menu by Daniel Boulud. The casino floor boasts a fresh layout, new games, and innovative slot machines.
Ascent’s exclusive offerings include The Annex, a private room for interactive activities like karaoke and video games, available for private parties. The ship is the first in the Celebrity fleet and North America to introduce 5G mobile connectivity, enhancing the overall guest experience.
The Grand Plaza, Magic Carpet, and Solarium contribute to the ship’s inviting ambiance. Celebrity Ascent, with its exceptional service, modern accommodations, and spacious suites in The Retreat, promises a luxurious vacation experience. The ship’s culinary offerings, including AI-assisted food preparation in the Oceanview Café, elevate the onboard dining experience, with 32 different food and beverage options to explore.
