Curaçao Achieves Record-Breaking 500,000 Overnight Visitors in 2023

Curaçao has achieved a remarkable milestone by hosting its 500,000th overnight, land-based visitor for the year, surpassing this record in record time, according to officials from the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB). Between January 1 and November 20, the southern Caribbean nation welcomed a total of 501,313 overnight visitors, already exceeding the 2022 stayover visitor count of 489,558. This year’s achievement not only sets a new benchmark but also outpaces the 463,652 land-based visitors recorded in pre-pandemic 2019, as per data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.
Curaçao’s success is attributed to increased services from airlines such as JetBlue, Air Canada, Delta, WestJet, United, and American Airlines, along with new and renovated accommodations and enhanced island experiences. The recent launch of Sandals Royal Curaçao in June 2022 is noted as a contributing factor to the destination’s increased visitor arrivals and support for hospitality training and airlift. The CTB remains committed to responsible and sustainable tourism growth, aiming to enhance the overall experience for both visitors and the local community, according to Ruisandro Cijntje, Curacao’s Minister of Economic Development and Tourism.
