Global Traveler Recognizes Diversity Leaders in Travel Industry
Global Traveler, a premium traveler publication, has revealed the recipients of the Outstanding Diversity & Inclusion in Travel award, now in its third year. This accolade, a part of the GT Tested Reader Survey, is presented annually to outstanding performers in the airline, hotel, and cruise line categories.
For the second consecutive year, United Airlines secured the airline Outstanding Diversity & Inclusion in Travel award, showcasing a continued commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion within the travel industry. Norwegian Cruise Line was recognized in the cruise category for its dedication to maintaining an inclusive work environment.
In the hotel segment, Preferred Hotel Group emerged as the winner, earning praise for its PreferredPride.com website. This platform provides members of the LGBTQIA+ community with the opportunity to discover vetted-friendly accommodations within the hotel group’s diverse portfolio.
Francis X. Gallagher, the publisher and CEO of Global Traveler, emphasized the crucial role of travel companies in representing the world and underscored the significance of prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Gallagher commended United Airlines, Preferred Hotel Group, and Norwegian Cruise Line for their daily efforts in advancing these ideals, facilitating cultural understanding and appreciation.
Nominations for the awards are made by Global Travel staff and its Advisory Board, with input from the Globility Board subscriber group. The evaluation includes considerations such as diversity policies, corporate culture, workforce, charitable contributions, independent research, and more.
The winners are set to be honored at an event on December 13 at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena, celebrating their achievements in promoting diversity and inclusion within the travel industry.
