Paradise Found: A Guide to Australia’s Best – Nudey Beach on Fitzroy Island

Recently crowned as Australia‘s best beach, Nudey Beach on Fitzroy Island is a pristine gem waiting to be explored. While I haven’t visited every Aussie beach, Nudey’s undeniable charm places it squarely among the top contenders.
What To Expect at Nudey Beach
Nudey Beach exudes an unspoiled allure, offering breathtaking views even on overcast days. Located off the mainland, it retains a tranquil atmosphere, free from overwhelming crowds. Despite its name, it’s not a nude beach; rather, it’s a picturesque spot on an island part of the Great Barrier Reef. The beach boasts clean white sand, captivating boulders, and turquoise waters that make it truly special.
Entrance Fees

The best part? It’s absolutely FREE to visit Fitzroy Island or Nudey Beach. The only cost is for the ferry ride to the island, which takes you on a 45-minute journey from Cairns and costs $80 AUD roundtrip.
How To Get To Nudey Beach

Fitzroy Island is conveniently located in Queensland, Australia, just 29 kilometers southeast of Cairns. You can reach Cairns International Airport (CNS) for your entry point. From Cairns, a day trip or an overnight stay at the resort is possible. The well-priced ferry ride takes only 45 minutes, and from the resort, it’s just a pleasant 20-minute hike (one way) to reach the beach. The path is well-marked, paved, and relatively flat.

Embark on an adventure to Nudey Beach, where the journey is as enchanting as the destination. Discover the untouched beauty that earned it the title of Australia’s best beach.
