ASTA’s 2023 Premium Business Summit Success and Exciting 2024 Plans

The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) recently marked the conclusion of its 2023 Premium Business Summit (PBS) in Indian Wells, California. The event, held from November 7-9, brought together leaders from ASTA Premium Member agencies, representing both corporate and leisure sectors, along with experts discussing crucial topics impacting the travel industry.
Zane Kerby, ASTA President and CEO, praised the summit as a valuable experience for travel business leaders. The event featured renowned speakers covering diverse subjects:
- Juggling Innovation with Disruption:

- Terry Jones, Founder of Travelocity and Founding Chairman of Kayak, shared insights into navigating innovation amidst disruption.
- A State of the (Airline) Union:

- Michael Linenberg from Deutsche Bank provided a Wall Street analyst’s perspective on the current state of the airline industry.
- Evolution or Revolution?:

- Henry Harteveldt of Atmosphere Research delved into the dynamics when suppliers move into the retailer space.
- Generative AI 201:

- Sam Hilgendorf of Fox World Travel explored how the latest tech trends in generative AI can be leveraged for success in the travel industry.
- NDC Unveiled:

- Kathy Morgan from Sabre delved into the future of air travel distribution through the New Distribution Capability (NDC).
Additionally, ASTA disclosed the location for the 2024 Premium Business Summit. Set to take place from October 16-20, 2024, the event will be aboard Virgin Voyages’ Valiant Lady, sailing from Miami with stops in Key West and the Virgin Voyages’ private beach club in Bimini, Bahamas.
Registration for the 2024 Summit is already open, with limited space available. ASTA Premium Member companies receive complimentary admission for two individuals, while other ASTA members can attend for a fee.
